iCal feed for Outlook and Apple
Subscribe to a live feed from any calendar app.
If you use Outlook, Apple Calendar, or any app that reads calendar subscriptions, Ferio can publish your approved leave as a live feed. You subscribe once to a private URL and your app refreshes it on its own; there is nothing to import again when your leave changes.
Generate your feed URL
Open your Profile, go to the Calendar tab, and click Generate iCal URL in the iCal card. Ferio creates a private link tied to your account. Click Copy to put it on your clipboard.
The URL is a key, not just an address. Anyone who has it can read your leave feed, so treat it like a password and only paste it into your own calendar app.
Subscribe in your calendar app
Add the copied URL as a calendar subscription, not a one-off import, so it stays up to date:
- Outlook: Add calendar, then Subscribe from web, and paste the URL.
- Apple Calendar: File, then New Calendar Subscription, and paste the URL.
- Google Calendar: Other calendars, then From URL. For two-way sync into Google, use Connect Google Calendar instead, which writes events directly.
The feed lists your approved leave as all-day events. How each event reads is controlled workspace-wide by the calendar event template. Turn on Sync public holidays to include your country's holidays in the same feed; see Sync public holidays.
Refresh and regenerate
Calendar apps poll a subscription on their own schedule, often every few hours, so a new approval may take a little while to appear; that timing is set by your app, not by Ferio. If your URL is ever exposed, click Regenerate iCal URL to issue a fresh one. The old link stops working immediately, so re-subscribe in your app with the new URL afterwards.
